The views from the palace were fantastic!
It was said that under this golden cupola the Sultan broke his fast at the end of Ramandan.
The sultan's private courtyard had a nice cooling fountain.
Area where the sultan did his lounging.
Lots of tourist from everywhere at the palace.
Gardens of course, with lots of rose bushes.
We enjoyed seeing the display of the really old caftans the sultans wore as well as the jewels and fancy swords and daggers. The amount of gold and jewels they had was astounding. No wonder the crusaders were so interested in conquering them. The plunder was beyond belief! This is a dagger in a sheath encrusted with jewels. Three giant emeralds adorn the handle.
This diamond was at least the size of an egg.
We did not get to see the hair from Mohamed's beard that they are supposed to have here although we did see his footprint. Below are some Turkish guys who were taking photos with the one guy dressed in the costume of the day. Guess what? For a fee you could be in the picture! Imagine that!
