Les Jardins

A little more than an hour away from Versailles are the gardens of Giverny. Here is where the famous impressionist painter Claude Monet had his home and where he created fantastic gardens which he then used as the subject for his paintings.
The day we went they were having a flea market on the road leading to the garden. It was packed! All kinds of stuff was for sale. M. could have gone crazy here as there were all kinds of antiques!

Finally we got up to the entrance only to find a reeeaaallly long line to get in.
It was worth the wait, though. What did we expect coming on a weekend?
Monet's backyard wa just like I like to dream mine would be if I didn't live in a place where it never rains and the temps stay over 100 for months on end.

The coolest part was the lily pond of course. It was so gorgeous with the little Japanese bridges.

I liked his house a lot. The walls were lavender and pale blue with his collection of Japanese prints hung everywhere.

The window in his bedroom had the best view.

My favorite room was his lounging area where he had all his paintings hung. Now they are are reproductions of course.

Monet did not let me down with what I learned of him from his house. What a genius.
